This was a David Bowie sketch I did made into a tote bag, it sure was good free machine embroidery practice! I’ve got loads of ideas for bags and shall keep you posted.

I am fast becoming obsessed with ‘Grey Gardens’ a 1975 documentary by the Maysles brothers. The all singing, all dancing Little Edie Beale Bouvier is astounding, hilarious, tragic, eccentric, sad, this is the best docu I have seen in years and has to be the most quotable ever.

“This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don’t like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So I think this is the best costume for today.” – Little Edie
Just writing about it makes me want to watch it again…

This is a poster I have recently completed for my creative writing class. We are having a nerve-wracking reading of some of our own pieces of writing. Having been repeatedly told that I have a ‘little voice’ I need some kind of Brian Blessed style projection help or my performance is looking to be a cross between Marcel Marceau and Whispering Bob Harris!

The poster uses my own drawings adapted and coloured in Illustrator, the curly font is called ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and I think it fits in well with the theme.

Surprising warm and sunny weather?! Does this been Spring is here?! I’m excited for sunny days but I secretly don’t trust it, if the sun wants to stay though, I don’t mind being wrong. Spring flowers abound but the trees are still nude. I can’t wait to see those leaves again until then ‘dances with the daffodils’.

Having got this film noir box set for Christmas (thank you Tray Tray & Rhi) it has become a firm favourite. It includes ‘The Killers’, Burt Lancaster’s big screen debut, previous to this he had been a circus acrobat, and what a handsome devil he was! But for me Film Noir is all about those ‘double-crossing dames’, Veronica Lake, Ava Gardner, Barbara Stanwyck. Beautiful and evil, the femme fatales get all the best lines and outfits! Veronica Lake in ‘This Gun For Hire’ as a club singer/conjurer who does slight of hand card tricks while singing and dancing, what’s not to love?!
